Oven Roasted Pork Belly

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. pork belly (with skin)
  • ½ tbsp oil
  • ½ tbsp all-spice
  • ½ tbsp salt
  • tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce

Instructions
 

  • Pat skin dry with a paper towel. With a sharp knife, score through skin every ½-inch at a diagonal, cutting through the skin and into fat, but not deep that you hit meat. Repeat cutting in an opposite diagonal to create a diamond shape pattern.
  • Mix the oil, all-spice, salt and honey. Season pork belly meat with the mixture. Sprinkle the skin with the soya sauce and some honey. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 450 F
  • Roast pork belly for 30 minutes on the middle rack in a heavy, oven safe pan or skillet, skin site up. Reduce heat to 275 F and roast for an hour or more, until tender. (Larger pieces of pork belly will take longer)
  • Remove from oven and let it rest.
  • Enjoy with soup, salad, rice, pasta, noodles etc…
  • Note: Adjust the ingredients if you have more then a 1 lb. pork belly
